As the Frugal Small Business Empowerment Women Project 2025 continues to gather momenttum, the foundation is appealing for support to meet the goal of empowering 500 women.
In 2024, over 100 women benefited from the project and the testimonies have being enormous.
Mrs. Funmilayo Nike Philips was a Trash Collector until she met Frugal Empowerment Foundation through the Founder, Mr. Frugal. After losing her husband, Funmilayo worked as a refuse collector in Abuja, earning only ₦30,000 (just £16) per month—barely enough to feed her four children, let alone send them to school. She received the cash support through the SBE Project and today she is doing will with her yam selling business.
Today, Funmilayo has a stable income, her children are back in school, and she’s planning to expand her business.
“This support gave me new life,” Funmilayo says. “Now I can breathe. I can dream again.”
Timothy Ladi is A Small Drink Seller with Big Dreams. In New Karu, Nasarawa State near Nyanya FCT, Ladi goes to sell soft drinks and snacks in the street of Abuja. Before FEF’s intervention, she barely made enough to cover daily expenses due to rising costs.
The SBE support enabled her to restock, attract more customers, and slightly increase her income. But like many others, Ladi still needs help.
“The grant helped me buy and sell more but things are still tough, and I want to grow.”
The goal for 2025 is ambitious but achievable:Empower 500 there vulnerable women, (some are widows, others single parents) with business grants, training, and tools to start or grow their nano business into sustainable businesses.
