The Founder of the Frugal Empowerment Foundation (FEF), Mr. Peter Osezua, popularly known as Mr. Frugal, was honored with an Award for Humanitarian Impact by the Onye Enyere Ya Nye Foundation, a partner organization in the SBE Women Empowerment Project. The award presentation was the highlight of the grant-giving event held on 27th November 2024 at the Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Art and Culture, Area 10, Garki, Abuja.

Overwhelmed with appreciation, Mr. Osezua expressed his gratitude, stating that this was the first time he had been physically present to receive an award recognizing his contributions to humanity, both in Nigeria and the United Kingdom. “This is a humbling moment for me,” he remarked. “While our focus remains on giving back and empowering the vulnerable, moments like this remind us that the work we do is seen and appreciated.”

The award was presented by Mr. Cyraicus Young Okparaugo, the Founder of the Onye Enyere Ya Nye Foundation, through the Special Advise to the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Chairm on Women Affairs, Honourable Esther Tawasimi. They commended Mr. Osezua for his selfless contributions to societal transformation. Mr. Okparaugo noted that the decision to present the award was inspired by Mr. Osezua’s relentless efforts to uplift the less privileged and champion the cause of humanitarian service through FEF. “This is a well-deserved recognition for a man who has dedicated his life to impacting humanity positively,” he said.

The recognition comes on the heels of the successful disbursement of ₦10 million in grants to 100 women beneficiaries of the SBE FCT Women Empowerment Project, a flagship initiative of FEF. The event not only marked a milestone in supporting small businesses but also highlighted the collaborative efforts of individuals and organizations committed to transforming lives.

The award serves as a testament to Mr. Osezua’s unwavering commitment to philanthropy and his lifelong vision to empower vulnerable communities across Nigeria and beyond.

The Frugal Empowerment Foundation (FEF) has once again demonstrated its unwavering commitment to empowering communities and fostering economic growth with the successful culmination of the SBE FCT Women Project Grant Giving Event. Held on Wednesday, November 27th, 2024, at the Cyprian Ekwensi Centre for Arts and Culture, Area 10, Garki, Abuja, the event marked a historic milestone as FEF fulfilled its promise to support 100 women with grants totaling 10 million naira to boost their businesses and improve their livelihoods.

The event brought together beneficiaries, dignitaries, sponsors, and partners, all united by a shared commitment to empowering women and addressing the economic challenges faced by small-scale female entrepreneurs in the Federal Capital Territory. The selected women, who operate diverse small businesses such as tailoring, food production, and petty trading, were awarded grants of 150,000 naira each to enhance their operations and tackle financial limitations. This significant support aims to promote self-reliance, resilience, and long-term sustainability among women in business.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Peter Osezua (Mr. Frugal), the founder of FEF, expressed his gratitude to the sponsors, donors, and partners who made the project a reality. He highlighted the foundation’s commitment to empowering the vulnerable, stating, “This project is a testament to the power of collective goodwill. By empowering these women, we are not just supporting their businesses; we are uplifting families, transforming communities, and building a brighter future for our society.”

Beneficiaries shared their excitement and gratitude, noting how the grants would help them overcome pressing business challenges. They also praised FEF for its selflessness and dedication to improving lives. The event reinforced FEF’s position as a leading humanitarian organization committed to addressing pressing societal needs and fostering sustainable development.

The SBE FCT Women Project is a reflection of FEF’s overarching mission to create meaningful change. As the foundation looks ahead, it calls on individuals, corporate organizations, and governmental agencies to collaborate in future initiatives, ensuring that more vulnerable women gain access to the resources they need to thrive.
