The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) is set to train 200 women in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as part of the collaboration with the Small Business Empowerment (SBE) 2025 Project.

The training, which will commence later in August, will serve as both an orientation and capacity-building programme for this year’s beneficiaries. The women, drawn from diverse petty trading backgrounds or rather NANO business (as SEMDAN would call them), will each receive ₦100,000 seed funding after the training at the grant giving in November to support or expand their small businesses.

According to the SBE 2025 implementation plan, the project targets empowering a total of 500 women—200 in the FCT, 200 in Lagos, and 100 in Edo State. The initiative, themed “Empower Her”, aims to equip these women with the financial resources, entrepreneurial skills, and confidence needed to grow and run sustainable businesses.

Speaking on the development, The project Supervisor Mr. Chuks Joshua Ochei said, “We believe that with the right training and support, these women will not only transform their own lives but also contribute significantly to community development and economic growth.”

The orientation programme will cover practical sessions in business planning, financial management, marketing strategies, and customer service. SMEDAN will also provide ongoing mentorship to ensure the beneficiaries can effectively utilize the funds and scale their businesses.
